Almost Funny

Lying in bed in the 

Liquid silence - shrouded 

Darkness before dawn-come-light

There are stars (a little blurred

Without my contact lenses) I watch

Floating in the sky.

Wish we could go visit them

In our lifetimes, wish we would live long enough.

Maybe on alien worlds

In the light of alien suns

We could be what, here, we could never be.

Pity

That we’re going to die out

Long before infinity.

And it would be almost funny -

Death by aerosol can

Death by SUV.
